
The nightcap of the Potomac State- Garrett doubleheader turned into an instant classic, as the Catamounts staged a thrilling seventh-inning comeback to defeat the Lakers 12-11.
Heading into the bottom of the seventh, Potomac State trailed 11-5, with Garrett needing three outs to win. Potomac State refused to go down quietly.
Lex Wescott led off the inning with a walk, and after a fly out and a strikeout PSC found themselves down to their final out.
After a single from Tanner Haskiell, the rally continued with Gabe Templeton's RBI double, which cut the deficit to 11-6. Seth Healy followed with an RBI single, bringing in another run.
With two runners on base, Braden Sloan came through with a clutch triple to left center, driving in both runs and suddenly making it an 11-9 game.
Jordan Canby then walked, and Reilly Bubb was hit with a pitch,
Lex Wescott rolled a ground ball to third base that Wescott beat out, the throw got past the 1st baseman allowing two runs to score as the score evened at 11-11.
Chris Harbert was intentionally walked to load the bases.
Ryan Conrad worked a bases-loaded walk, allowing Reilly Bubb to trot home for the game-winning run. The incredible seven-run final frame was more impressive as all seven runs scored with two outs.
Harbert and Healy each finished with a pair of runs batted in.
Braden Sloan picked up the win for PSC as he made his first appearance on the mound this season.
This victory moved Potomac State to 11-8 on the season, while Garrett College fell to 16-5.
In game one, The Lakers' Brandyn Gonzalez had a career day by hitting a pair of grand slams driving in eights runs as Garrett cruised to a 16-1 win.
Garrett powered past the Catamounts with an eight-run second inning and a seven-run third inning.
Easton Rhoten added to the firepower with a 2-RBI double.
Garrett's Conner Blake picked up the win as he held Potomac State to just two hits over five innings striking out one.
The Catamounts pitching struggled, surrendering 16 runs on 10 hits, with six walks and two home runs allowed.
Potomac State will be home again on Saturday when the face Harford Community College for a 1:00 p.m. twin bill.
