A Farewell...

Hello Catamount nation and welcome back to the final week of the 2024-2025 season. We had our regional this past weekend and came up a little short, so our season is officially over. The team battled until the end for both of the playoff games, but we came up just a little short.

Although it hurts to have our season end, there are plenty of good things from this year that make next year look promising. The Catamounts consisted of a pretty young lineup this year, with plenty of freshmen that contributed and played very well. There were only 4 players this year that played the field and were in their second year of eligibility for collegiate sports. There were even less returners for our pitching staff as we only had one guy that was a pitcher only (PO) that returned from last year and didn’t go down with an injury. That means that a big part of our team this year were freshman and most of them will be returning next year to compete for the Catamounts again.

Outside of games, the players are now in their final’s week for classes as the first day of finals was on Monday. So, things are coming to a close in Keyser for this year on and off the field. However, outside of studying for finals, the team is still finding some time to hang out with each other before we leave and go our separate ways. Most of the team went to Chris Harbert’s (Bridgeport, WV) house on Sunday to watch some MLB games and get to hang out at least one more time before people started heading home. A group of the guys also went fishing on Monday before our final team meeting. Caden Johnson (Hurricane, WV) Reilly Bubb (Martinsburg, WV) and Hunter Rothacker (Richmond, OH) all took a trip up to Terra Alta, WV where Tanner Haskiell is from to go fishing for the day.

Then on Monday evening almost all of the team showed up at the CESPY awards in the auditorium to cheer on and support everyone but especially their teammates that got nominated for any of the awards. The CESPY’s is the Potomac States version of the ESPY’s where they recognize and give out awards to players from all the team here at Potomac State.

Players that were nominated consisted of Tanner Haskiell for Scholar-Athlete, Chris Harbert for Athlete of the year, Dalvin Medina (Orlando, FL) for Catamount Culture, and Lex Wescott (Harrington, DE) for freshman of the year. Lex ended up winning freshman of the year and got a really nice plaque as his reward.

Until next year, roll chats!
