Late inning rally pushes Potomac State to sweep over Hagerstown

Keyser, WV- Trailing by three runs with one out remaining in the game, Potomac State rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring four runs to secure a 10-9 win.

The win completed a sweep for the Catamounts, who won game one 11-1.

In the nightcap, Hagerstown jumped to a quick lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Aidan Grudzinski.

PSC tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the opening inning, when Cam Cole scored from third on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the second inning, PSC scored a pair of runs on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout from Reilly Bubb.

The Hawks tied the game in the third on a two-run single from Griffin Lowman.

Tanner Haskiell hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give Potomac State a 5-3 lead.

HCC tied the game at 5-all on a RBI double from Ethan Shimmel, that drove in Braylon Conner.  Shimmel later scored on a wild pitch.

The Catamounts took a 6-5 lead in the fourth when Jordan Canby led off with an infield hit.  He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Cole, and then stole third base.  Canby then scored on a sacrifice fly from Bubb.

In the fifth, Hagerstown picked up a pair of runs on an error and an RBI single from Kadin Holmes.

A pair of runs in the top of the seventh gave HCC a 9-6 lead.  Griffin Lowman and Logan Simanski each drew a bases loaded walk to set up the final frame.

Reilly Bubb doubled to lead off the inning.  The next two batters were retired leaving PSC with only one out to work with.  The Catamounts were then on the receiving end of some wildness from HCC.

Jimmy Sadler was hit with a pitch.  Gage Bibey walked and was run for by Jaylon SandersTanner Haskiell walked to score Bubb and make the score 9-7.

Sadler then scored on a wild pitch, making it 9-8.  An intentional walk to Kris Sutton re-loaded the bases.  Jordan Conby then drew another walk that scored Sanders to tie the game.  Cam Cole then was hit with a pitch to bring the Catamounts all the way back with a 10-9 win.

Chris Harbert picked up the win with two innings of relief work, striking out three.

In the opener, Tanner Haskiell homered and singled to drive in four runs to lead PSC to a 11-1 six-inning win.

Nik Rubendall and Jimmy Sadler each drove in a pair of runs.

Caden Goodwin picked up the win with a complete game effort.  Goodwin struck out four and allowed just a single run that was unearned.

Potomac State stole a program high record eleven bases in the game.  With Sadler picking up four while Cam Cole picked up three.  On the day Sadler stole a total of six thefts.

Potomac State, 17-6 will travel to Allegany College on Sunday for a pair of games beginning at 1:00 p.m.
