Potomac State Baseball 2024 Player Diary Week 15

Welcome to the 2024 Potomac State Baseball player diary homepage. This season, Sophomores Ben McDougal (Bridgeport High School / Bridgeport, WV), and Kris Sutton (Cobb County High School / Calhoun, GA) will take the lead on the Potomac State Baseball Player Diary.

Catamount nation, we have now made it to week 15 of the Potomac State Baseball Player Diary. This week was a special one to say the least. To start, Cam Cole (Bridgeport, WV), Cam Reed (South Charleston, WV), Andrew Sokol (Rostraver Township, PA), and myself went to the local’s favorite golfing location, Polish Pines. We had previously visited the links in an earlier edition on the diary for a few solo holes with Cam Cole, but this time around was different. This time around, we played a scramble.

Andrew and I versus Cam and Cam. Our teams went back and forth for a few holes until the Cams broke away with a lead and held it the rest of the day. I also must add that if not for Andrew’s performance, we would have been out of it a long time before, as golf is definitely not my strong suit.

Then, later in the week, the team put the new aforementioned grill to good use. We hosted a cookout at Golden Park. This was a great opportunity to get the team together outside of baseball for some team bonding. Anytime the team gets a chance to hangout off the field is a chance not taken for granted...even if we were technically still at the field. We had all the typical things to fit the cookout stereotype. We had cornhole, spike ball, and enough burgers and hotdogs to feed a small village. It was just what the doctor ordered before the weekend’s incoming games.

Not much can make you feel better than an undefeated weekend and trust me, it’s easy to say that after that's exactly what we did. The wins started with our series sweep against Hagerstown on Saturday with an 11-1 & 10-9 victory. The bats were hot with standouts like Jimmy Sadler (Houston, PA) and Tanner Haskiell (Terra Alta, WV). Jimmy racked up 5 hits in 6 at bats while Tanner added some power to his arsenal with 2 homeruns. Then, two more games hit the win column on Sunday as we took both games at ACM (Allegheny College of Maryland). The finals of those being 11-0 & 6-4. We had to douse our bats with water after collecting 28 hits on the day. They were smoking hot. Chris Harbert (Bridgeport, WV) alone added 5 hits to the stat line. While the hitters stole the show, don’t let me leave out the outstanding pitching performance from Aidan VanRider (New Smyrna Beach, FL). The dude went 6.1 innings and competed like no other.

That wraps up this week's edition to the Player Diary. If you enjoyed, make sure to check out the filmed version on YouTube.
