Potomac State Baseball 2024 Player Diary Week 11

Welcome to the 2024 Potomac State Baseball player diary homepage. This season, Sophomores Ben McDougal (Bridgeport High School / Bridgeport, WV), and Kris Sutton (Cobb County High School / Calhoun, GA) will take the lead on the Potomac State Baseball Player Diary.

Welcome Back everyone to this week’s addition to the Potomac State Baseball Player Diary. This week marked the beginning of March Madness. By the time this week’s diary is posted, the Sweet Sixteen of the men’s bracket will already be decided. Why this pertains to the baseball boys of Potomac State you may ask, is because the team is big into making brackets. Just for fun, of course.  With bragging rights on the line, the competition is fierce.

This year teammate Gage Bibey (Belington, WV) brought a ton of brackets for the guys to fill out in a chance to prove who has the best ability to correctly predict the winners of this year’s tournament. If you tune into the video version, you will see that many of the guy's hot picks for this year have already not panned out the way they had hoped. Understandably so, with so many possible bracket outcomes it is practically impossible to be perfect. There are 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 possible brackets someone could write up.

Not much else was happening here in Keyser this week. With Spring break finishing last week, most of the guys just spent their days trying to get back to their normal schedule... as normal as you can make a college baseball players schedule. Other than that, the guys worked hard this week to keep the field up to par for upcoming practice and games. Being at a JUCO with unpredictable weather, us players are always one call away from rushing to the field to do whatever needs done for that particular situation. Whether it be pulling on the tarp to make sure the field doesn’t flood or hosing down the field to make sure it isn’t too dry.

As for the games, we split on the weekend, going 1-1 against Cecil College. The first game went well. We wrapped that game up in 5 innings, winning 10-0. The second, we weren’t as lucky. After a long first inning that didn’t go our way, the team was in a battle to claw our way back in the entire game. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to pull off the comeback. Standouts for the day were Reilly Bubb (Martinsburg, WV) going 4-6 on the day at the plate and Cam Reed (South Charleston, WV) who brought a solid 5 innings out of the bullpen for us.

Thank you for catching up on this week’s version of the player diary and I hope you enjoyed it. As always, make sure to watch the YouTube version as well and continue tuning in for the rest of the season.
