Catamount fall short in Region 20 Tourney; still advance to Eastern District

Keyser, WV- Potomac State fell to Harford in the Region 20 Championship Game on Monday, but by finishing as the runners-up, the Catamounts advance along with Harford Community College to the Eastern District Finals to be held in Gastonia, NC beginning on Friday.

Harford was the clear dominate team at the Region 20 Tournament as the did not lose a game to claim the crown.

Potomac State won the opening game over Region 15 Champion Monroe College 3-2.

In the winners' bracket PSC fell to the Owls 9-6 on Saturday.

Facing elimination, the Catamounts once again battled Monroe.  This time the back and forth game went twelve innings and took two days to complete.

The Catamounts jumped out to a 5-0 lead highlighted by a two-run double from Nik Rubendall and an RBI double from Kris Sutton

A two-run home run by Morgan Little looked to seal the game in the eighth and put Potomac State up 9-3. 

Monroe had no quit as the rallied to tie the game at 9-9 in the ninth. After two additional innings the game was suspended due to darkness.  

When the game resumed in the top of the 12th inning, Sammy Bradfield reached on an infield single and one out later, Brady Whitacre doubled to left center scoring Bradfield from 1st.

Tyler Henshaw nailed down the bottom of the 12th and propelled the Catamounts to the District Final.

In the Championship Harford whipped the Catamounts by a 16-5 score the win the Region 20 title.
