Potomac State pushes win streak to 10 with sweep over Hagerstown

Hagerstown, MD- Potomac State was down a run and down to their last three outs on Monday afternoon in the opening game against Hagerstown.

Hagerstown led 2-1, needing three outs.  The Catamounts had them just where they wanted.

A furious last inning rally lifted PSC to a 4-2 win over the Hawks.

Leading off the inning Zach Brennan laced a double to set the stage for the rally.  Chance Satcho followed with a ground ball single putting runners at first and third.

Brady Whitacre then grounded a ball up the middle that resulted in a fielder's choice that scored Brennan and tied the game at 2-2.

After a flyout, Dakota Miller continued his red-hot streak with a long triple that scored Sammy Bradfield, who had pinch-ran for Whitacre giving PSC their first lead of the game 3-2.

Jimmy Sadler then legged out an infield error after a slight bobble in the infield.  The hustle play allowed Miller to score and provide an insurance run and a 4-2 lead.

Ben McDougal, who had come on in the sixth inning, closed out the game to pick up the win.  Jake Arnold had allowed just two runs in five innings of work, striking out four.

"It was a really good win for us," said Potomac State Head Coach Doug Little.  "We have been playing better as of late, but to come in here, beat a very good team in our last at bat is huge for us.  I am proud of our guys."

Nik Rubendall finished with three hits, while Sadler added two.

The momentum continued in game two as the Catamounts jumped out to a 6-0 lead enroute to a 12-8 win.

Rubendall and Kris Sutton each added a pair of hits and runs batted in for PSC.

Blake Badman and Cody Brick each homered for Hagerstown, who out hit PSC 10-7.

Tyler Henshaw and Caden Goodwin combined to strike out seven Hawks hitters.

Potomac State improves to 26-12 while Hagerstown falls to 19-22.
