Arnold’s gem completes Catamounts' sweep over Hagerstown

Keyser, WV- Jake Arnold improved to 7-1 with a complete game three-hitter as Potomac State downed Hagerstown Community College 9-0 to complete a sweep Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.

Arnold walked just one and struck out six in seven innings of work.  He needed just 68 pitches to complete the game, 47 of which were strikes.

Josh Hoffman, Caleb Taylor and Brady Whitacre each drove in two runs as scored all their runs in the first and third innings.

The sunny day at Golden Park featured a large crowd that was entertained by two of the best teams in the Region.

In the opener Owen Keim threw the final three innings of scoreless baseball as Potomac State came back for a 4-3 win.  Keim scattered five hits, striking out just one to pick up the save.  Tyler Henshaw worked the opening four innings to pick up the win. 

The Catamounts took advantage of seven walks from Hawks pitchers to rally for a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

PSC had just four hits, while Hagerstown had nine.

Potomac State picked up a pair of RBI's from Anthony Swenda and one each from Caleb Taylor and Clay Maholic.

Hagerstown fell to 33-15 while Potomac State improved to 31-11.

The Catamounts will wind up the 2022 regular season on Saturday when they travel to Winchester, VA for a pair of games with Shenandoah University.
