2022 Potomac State Baseball Player Diary Week 16- Road Trip to the Burgh

Welcome back Catamount faithful to another week of the Potomac State baseball player diary. With the regular season finishing up, we have moved our focus to the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, our regional tournament has officially been pushed back to now starting on Sunday May 8! This week consisted of team practices to get us playoff ready, and we also got a team picture that you can all check out on Flickr. Since we will be in the Region XX tournament when graduation happens, we had our second annual baseball graduation recognizing the guys who will not be able to walk but did earn the diploma. Below, this week I had the guys share their feelings with the Chat fans about their season.

Owen Keim- “This season has been more than I have expected, coming in as a freshman and being welcomed by all the sophomores and Covid third year guys has been an experience I will never forget. I love being a part of the winning culture that has been set by our coaches and hope to continue it. Our season has gone great so far going 33-11 and expecting some big wins in regionals!”

Chase Lautner- “This year has been so surreal I haven’t been a part of a team that is so close ever. Coming in from high school I did not know what to expect but this year has been nothing but exciting at every moment. From playing games to practice and off field experiences I will never forget my freshman year. Meeting all these new people I have made so many friends that will last a lifetime and I am forever grateful for everyone that has helped me this year. Hope the season keeps going our way and we keep surviving through regionals this coming weekend. Stay tuned to see the boys play the rest of the year.”

Trevor Thomas- “This season has been the most fun I have had in all my three years here. From Covid taking away my freshman year and last year being a great year other than finishing a little short in regionals. I have personally had the greatest experience possible this year, the bond with this group is special and I cannot wait to get the playoffs started. No matter the outcome of the season, the memories I have made this year and the bonds I have created with these guys will last a lifetime. Hope to see y’all back at Golden Park for Districts. Stay tuned!”

Chance Satcho- “This year has been awesome. The team chemistry we have is unbeatable and I thoroughly enjoy being around every person on the team. Not only have we had a lot of fun, but we won a lot of baseball games, which makes it even better. Every person is on the same page and we all collectively make each other better day in and day out. We bring energy every day whether it is practice or a game. And as Coach Schafer always says, get them game day reps in and treat every day like its game day.”

Rob Kelley - “This season is one to remember. Every day we look forward to coming to practice and preparing for games. The energy we bring to practice, and games is unmatched. Our team chemistry this year has been unreal, and we have come together as a whole. I have created so many relationships with my teammates that I’ll have for a lifetime. No matter what happens this season the memories I’ve created with my team will be with me forever. Be on the lookout for us bringing it back home for Districts at Golden Park!!”

Cory Ashby- “This season has been one for the books. Everyone on the team is so close and comes together for each other. This is a true brotherhood and the energy we all have is unmatched. I have really enjoyed playing along with everyone and will always look back on the friendships I have made. I am thankful for each guy on this team and the bond we have.”

Mac Messier- “This season is one of the best seasons. From the first practice to a few days before regionals this team is something special. The group of guys we have on this team is unbelievable, we have come a long way up to now. The chemistry and bonds on this team is unreal. This team is a true brotherhood that we have and I’m so happy to have been a part of it. ROLL CHATS BABY!!”

Tyler Henshaw- “This season has been by far the best season I have ever had of baseball. We were a tight group as a whole, and that made us successful on the field. We had a lot of fun in the clubhouse and that all transformed onto the field. Everybody comes out to Chat Valley for super regionals at Golden Park!!”

Dylan Perry- “As a second-year guy our schedule was a little different than last year. We went down South and played some of the best teams in the country and learned what it takes to be really successful. We have been going at it since August and now as playoffs approach, the work we have put in and the time and effort will show itself. Look for a lot more from the Chats.”

Morgan Little- “This season has been one of the most fun times I’ve had in my baseball career. Starting in the fall and seeing the team come together is a great feeling. We started out the first few games rough but that just helped us come together more as a team. I’m looking forward to the Region XX tournament and making a deep run into the playoffs!”
