Catamounts drop pair of games to open season

Winchester, VA- Potomac State opened their 2021 season with a pair of losses to Shenandoah University.

The Catamounts blew a 5-0 lead in the sixth inning and fell 6-5 in the opener.  Game two had a similar collapse as PSC held a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning and ultimately fell 8-7.  Both games were walk-off winners for the Hornets.

Brandon Schaeffer had a quality start spoiled as the southpaw went five innings, striking out six and walking just one.  He allowed no runs. 

In game two Ashton Staubs started and went 3 2/3 innings allowing two runs and striking out three.

In game one, Dale Houser drove in two runs with a single and home run.  Caleb Taylor also added two hits.

In game two, Zack Whitacre had three singles, while Graham Brown and Caleb Taylor has two hits apiece.

PSC, (0-2) will travel to LaPlata, MD for a pair of games with the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday.
