CCBC Essex Holds Off Women's Soccer, 3-2

Potomac State cut a two-goal deficit to one on Maggie Slocum's goal with nineteen minutes left in regulation, but CCBC Essex was able to hold off the Catamounts to defeat potomac state 3-2, in Tuesday's Region 20 matchup. Mackenzie Hunt opened the scoring for the Knights in the 17th minute with an assist from Rebecca Verdi. The Catamounts were able to tie the match in the 28th minute when Maggie Slocum found the back of the net to make it 1-1. Two goals from Kayla Willis in the 29th and 33rd minute gave the Knights a 3-1 advantage at the half. Potomac state battled back to make it 3-2 on Slocum's goal with nineteen minutes remaining, but could not find the equalizer towards the end of the match. Kelsey O'Neal and Nevaeh Hamborsky each played a half in net and faced 11 shots and made 8 saves.

  • The Catamounts edged the Knights in shots 16-15. 

 

Potomac State will travel to Frederick Community College on Thursday, October 6 for a 2 p.m. matchup against the cougars.
