Catamounts earn solid victory

WVU Potomac State secured a solid 60-50 victory over Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) on February 22, 2025. 

The game started off close, with AACC leading 12-11 after the first quarter. However, WVU Potomac State gained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring AACC 16-15 and taking a narrow 27-26 lead into halftime. Potomac State's defense tightened in the third quarter, limiting AACC to just 13 points while scoring 18 of their own. They maintained their edge in the fourth quarter, finishing strong with a 15-10 run to seal the 10-point win.

Key individual performances for WVU Potomac State included:

  • Amber Bing: Led the team with 15 points, shooting 6-18 from the field and hitting 3-10 from beyond the arc. She also contributed 4 rebounds and 2 steals in 29 minutes.

  • Hannah Ault: Scored 14 points, going 4-18 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line. She added 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 36 minutes.

  • Ericka Zirk: Provided a strong inside presence with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in 26 minutes.

  • Brylee Wetzel: Stuffed the stat sheet with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a game-high 5 steals in 35 minutes.

  • Tenley Paugh: Added 8 points and 4 rebounds while hitting 2-3 from three-point range.

  • Meghan Harris: Made a solid impact off the bench with 4 points and 7 rebounds in just 12 minutes.

As a team, WVU Potomac State dominated the glass with 48 rebounds and forced 24 turnovers with their aggressive defense. Their balanced offensive effort and strong defensive play were key factors in their hard-fought win. The women hit the road on Monday to Christendom College for their last game of the regular season before Region 20 playoffs begin in March.
