The Catamounts took a Region 20 win today over the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks, winning 71-42 in the Division II battle. In the first quarter both teams struggled to start their offenses, the first points not coming until the clock read 7:04. At the end of the quarter the Nighthawks had the lead 13-11. That would be the last time lead they would hold as the Catamounts came out in the 2nd quarter and dropped 20 points to take the lead 31-27 heading into halftime.
After the half, the Catamounts offense blazed through the NOVA defense, outscoring them in the second half 40-15, with 26 points being scored in the 4th quarter. Kelly Ours, Talynn Mcdonald, and Chelcie Forrester all hit double digits points. Forrester hit her second double-double of the week, locking in an impressive 19 rebounds. The Catamounts shot 78.9% from the free throw line in their solid win. They improve to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in NJCAA Region 20 Division 2 competition.
Up next for the Catamounts, they take on Howard Community College on Wednesday, December 6th at 5pm at Lough Gymnasium.
