Catamounts Edged late in loss to Butler County

Potomac State held a narrow lead at the half, but saw that advantage fade away in the final two frames as it was bested by Butler County Community College 65-61 on Tuesday night at Lough Gymnasium.

Chelcie Forrester, who added four rebounds, led the Catamounts with 15 points. Kelly Ours chipped in with 13 points and Alexis Yanosky added 6 points with a team-high nine rebounds and six assists.

The Catamounts grabbed their largest lead at 30-24 heading into the break. Potomac State came out flat in the third quarter and was out score 17-10 and down 41-40 going into the final frame.

Potomac State trimmed the lead to one possession on several occasions down the stretch, but each time the Pioneers had a response. The Pioneers were able to make free throws down the stretch and ultimately able to hold off the Catamounts in the end.

Aslyn Pry led the Pioneers with 21 points and 17 boards. Emma Johns added 16 points.

The Catamounts host Hagerstown Community College on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
