Catamounts open campaign with win over CSM

Keyser, WV- With a balanced attack, the Potomac State Women's Basketball team opened the 2021-2022 season with a 60-43 win over the College of Southern Maryland Wednesday night.

Alexis Yanosky continued her steady play from a year ago leading the Catamounts with 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Makenna Douthitt was a rebounding machine as the Sophomore collected 16 rebounds, including 11 off of missed shots from the Hawks. Douthitt added 13 points and two assists.

Two more Catamounts scored in double figures as Lexi Turner poured in ten points while Kelsey O'Neal added ten points off the bench.

Potomac State led at the half 29-23 and used a 16-8 fourth quarter to pull away.  The Catamounts dominated on the glass as they out rebounded the Hawks 54-39.  Equally impressive was the Catamounts effort at the charity stripe.  PSC shot 78%, knocking down 15 of 19 free throws.

The College of Southern Maryland was led by Janiah Jones who played all 40 minutes and had a game-high 16 points and six rebounds.

Potomac State will be back in action on Friday night and Saturday afternoon- both games at the Lough Gym on the PSC campus.  Friday's game is against Anne Arundel Community College and tips off at 7:00 p.m.  Saturday will see Penn State Fayette come to town for a 2:00 p.m. tip off.
