Potomac State made their third straight world series appearance last week in Spartanburg, SC. The Catamounts went into the tournament looking for their first world series win in school history.

Potomac State faced #17 Macomb in game 1 of the tournament. The Catamounts came out firing and picked up right where they've been all season. In the bottom of the seocnd, Emily Horn homered to put Potomac State on the board and take a 1-0 lead. The scoring continued in the third inning when Alexa Shoemaker doubled, driving in a run. Then, Braylee Corbin sac flied bring in another run and Putting the Catamounts on top 3-0. In the fifth inning, with a runner on, Shoemaker smacked her 15th homerun of the season making the score 5-0. The Catamounts would add one more in the fifth, taking a commanding 6-0 lead. Macomb would get one back in the sixth. Then in the seventh, a few fielding mistakes from The Catamounts would allow Macomb to score a few more and get within two. Chloe Greise, who pitched a complete game, would strikeout the final batter, giving Potomac State their first win at the National Tournament. Greise allowed only 6 hits and struckout 10 in seven innings pitched.

The Catamounts would then have a tall task as they would now take on #1 Parkland. Potomac State was up for the challenge knowing that just years ago, the Catamounts nearly knocked off the #1 seed in the opening game of the tournament. This game however, did not go as planned for Potomac State. They would end up being no-hit and losing 7-0 to the Cobras. Charity Wolfe pitched six innings for the Catamonts, giving up the seven runs on 13 hits. 

The loss to Parkland now set the Catamounts up for an elimination game vs #18 St. Louis Community College. Potomac State would strike first in the first inning after Meghan Harris doubled, scoring the lead off hitter Eva Ochoa. The score stayed 1-0 until the fourth inning when St. Louis would homer, tieing the game at 1-1. The next inning, a two run homerun and a solo homerun put the Archers up 4-1. In the sixth inning, the Catamounts were able to put one more on the board, but that would it and St. Louis would go on to win the game 4-2, ending Potomac State's season. Chloe Greise went all seven innings in the circle alowwing only 6 hits and striking out 9 in the loss.

The Catamounts season came to end with an final overall record of 37-13. They went 16-2 in the region, winning their fourth region championship in four years and third straight world series appearance. Head Coach Craig Rotruck leads Potomac State to another successful season, making his overall record with the Catamounts 121-22.
