Catamounts go 4-3 at Fast Pitch Spring Classic

Potomac State traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC for the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic last week. The Catamounts played 7 games while there, going 4-3.

 

In the first game of the week, the Catamounts took on Salem Community College which they won 8-0 in 5 innings.Charity Wolfe pitched all 5 innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 4. Alexa Shoemaker and Kameron Beck each had a double. Taylor Lamp, Braylee Corbin, and Shoemaker tripled. Meghan Harris, Shoemaker, Jamie Kelly, Corbin, and Heather Williams each had an RBI and Beck recorded two RBIs.

 

Game 2 was a close one with Joliet Junior College which Potomac State also won 5-4. In the fourth inning, the Catamounts took a 2-0 lead, but the Wloves responded quickly scoring two runs of their own in the next inning. Each team would score in the sixth, making the score 3-3 heading into the final frame. Joliet took a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Potomac State would score 2 runs and win the game. Chloe Greise pitched 6 innings allowing only 5 hits and striking out 11. Kelly pitched the final frame giving up 1 hit and also struck out 1. Harris and Greise each had an RBI and Kelly added 2.

 

Game 3 was against Mohawk Valley Community College. Potomac State got their third win of the week, taking this one 10-4. Wolfe pitched 5 innings with 6 strike outs and only 3 hits. Katelyn Nazelrod came in to pitch the final two innings and help the Catamounts to the win. Heather Williams doubled twice had an RBI. Kelly added another 2 RBIs this game and Lamp, Shoemaker, Corbin, and Courtney Adams each had an RBI. 

 

Madison College gave the Catamounts their first lost of the week in game 4. Potomac State got off to good start, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They would only score once more in the fourth while Madison scored seven runs between the third and seventh inning. Chloe Greise pitched 5 innings and Charity Wolfe came in for the last two. Emily Horn doubled and Shoemaker, Kelly, and Nazelrod each had an RBI.

 

The Catamounts then faced Louisburg College in a doubleheader for games 5 and 6. 

Game was a battle from start to finsh. Potomac State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and would hold on to the lead until Louisburg tied the game at 1 in the sixth inning. The game would then head to extra innings with Louisburg scoring in the ninth and keeping the Catamounts scoreless in the bottom of the frame. The Hurricanes took game 1, 2-1. Greise pitched the whole game only allowing 5 hits and striking out 11. Lamp and shoemaker each doubled and Shoemaker had the lone RBI.

In game 2, the Hurricanes kept the Catamounts scoreless for five innings putting up 9 runs of their own. Louisburg took that game 9-1. Wolfe pitched 5 innings striking out 7. Beck had an RBI.

 

The final game of the week for the Catamounts was against Hudson Valley Community College. Potomac State got back in the win chart taking the game 9-3. Greise pitched 6 innings only allowing 3 hits and striking out 10. Kelly pitched the final inning giving up 1 hit and striking out 1. Williams had an RBI while Greise added 2 and Shoemaker added 3 RBIs.
