Catamounts Sweep Doubleheader against Corning

Potomac state hosted a doubleheader against the Corning Red Barons Sunday afternoon. The Catamounts took both games and are now 10-5 on the year.

Game 1 was a battle. The Catamounts scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first and held that lead until the third inning when the Red Barons would make it 2-1. In the fourth inning, Potomac state added two more runs, taking a 4-1 lead. Corning got two runs back, one in each the fifth and six inning, but the Catamounts were able to close out the game in the top of the seventh and take game 1 4-3. 

Chloe Greise pitched all seven innings, only allowing 6 hits and striking out 8. Alexa Shoemaker and Jamie Kelly both doubled and had 2 RBIs each.

 

Potomac State started hot and did not let up in game 2. The Catamounts pounded out 12 hits and scored 15 runs, making the job easy for pitcher Charity Wolfe, who threw all 5 innings allowing only 4 hits and struck out 6. The Catamounts took game 2 15-2.

Taylor Lamp, Eva Ochoa, and Shoemaker each went 2-for-3 and combined for 7 of Potomac State's runs. Meghan Harris doubled and score once. Shoemaker hit her third homerun of the season. Lamp, Shoemaker, Wolfe, and Heather Williams each had 2 RBIs, while Ochoa, Kelly, and harris add 1 each. 

 

 

Potomac State is back in action Wednesday, March 20 for a home matchup against #15 Bryant and Stratton College (VA). First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 11:00 am.
