Catamounts Defeat Raptors Twice in Walk-Off Fashion

Catamounts Defeat Raptors Twice in Walk-Off Fashion

Potomac state continued their dominate season with two wins over Montgomery College Saturday afternoon. The Catamounts are now 40-3 on the year and advance to next round of the Region 20 Tournament.

Potomac state didn't get the bats going as fast as usual, but once they did in the third inning, it was on from there. The Catamounts took game 1 9-0.

The Catamounts scored 9 runs on only seven hits, but it proved to be enough especially with freshman starter Abby Peace, who is now 19-0 on the year, only allowing two hits from the Raptors in 6 innings.

Alexis Bailey went 3-for-3, with an RBI and a homrun, taking her HR count to 16 on the season. Mia Kincaid doubled and had 3 RBIs, while Peace and Ashley Joll each added an RBI. In the bottom of the sixed inning, Alexa Shoemaker's walk-off 3 RBI homrun ended game 1.

Game 2 was much of the same for the Catamounts, except they got bats rolling much faster, taking a 7-0 lead in the first inning. They won game 2 10-2.

Potomac State's powerful offense put up 9 hits and 7 runs in the frist inning, making the job easy for Sophomore Pitcher Jenna Burkhamer, who pitched all five innings only allowing 2 runs on 4 hits making her record 15-2.

The bats were rolling for the Catamounts in game two, with RBIs coming from Grace Walsh (2), Courtney Adams, Shoemaker, Bailey, Burkhamer, Joll (2), and Kincaid. Walsh, Shoemaker, Joll, and Kincaid each doubled in game 2. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Courtney Adams hit her second collegiate homerun followed by Shoemaker with yet another homerun and to walk off the game. Shoemaker is now at 21 HRs on the Season.
