KEYSER, W.V. — If your dream season must come to an end, what better place than to have it come to conclusion than in Alabama at the NCJAA World

Series. With a 4-0 loss to Triton College on May 27, its second loss of the World Series, Potomac State concluded an incredible season with an incredible overall record of 41-4.

Due to rain delays and cancellations, that second World Series game didn't happen for three days after the Lady Catamounts nearly shocked the nation by almost upsetting the number one seed and top-ranked team in the country, Des Moines Area. Des Moines won that game 6-5.

Unfortunately for the Lady Cats, the game against Triton would not be as close. Triton scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the sixth inning, and held Potomac State scoreless, in amassing the 4-0 victory.

Alyssa Stramaglia went the full seven innings in the circle in the shutout. Stramaglia struck out 14, walked four, and gave up only one hit, elevating her season record to24-3 on the year.

In the loss, Brianne Stocks went the full six innings for Potomac State. Stocks struck out three, walked zero, and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits. Stocks finished the season with an impressive record of 20-1.

Offensively, six separate Triton players collected one hit apiece. Melissa Gonzalez and Breanne Deutscher each collected a double and scored one run. Deutscher added an RBI, as did Lucy Goodwin and Taylor Schwartz. Katlynn Cherry scored two runs.

Alexis Bailey had Potomac State's lone hit, a double.

Potomac State opened the season with a loss to Cleveland Community College in Shelby, North Carolina. They then won six straight games before falling to Patrick and Henry Community College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

From that point, the Lady Catamounts then won 35 consecutive games. This amazing win streak included three straight victories over Anne Arundel Community, and Hagerstown Community College twice, to win the Region 20 Tournament.

This qualified Potomac State for the NCJAA World Series in Oxford, Alabama where they were seeded the 16th seed out of 16 teams. In an opening round game thatpitted them against the number one team in the country, Potomac State carried a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before falling to Des Moines. The 4-0loss to Triton ended the Lady Cats' season with an overall record of 41-4.

Also, along the way, it was learned that Potomac State head coach Craig Rotruck is the first coach in NJCAA history to lead two separate teams to a national championship tournament.

It was a season in which Potomac State made their mark, a mark that will have a lasting legacy.
