Catamounts improve to 10-2 overall after Spring Break trip to South Carolina

North Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Potomac State Softball team enjoyed the ride home from a southern swing into South Carolina after winning 6 of the 7 games played on the Spring Break trip.
The Catamounts opened the week on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Joliet Junior College. Bri Stocks picked up the win on the bump going the distance allowing only 4 hits and striking out 11.
Madi Anderson led the offense going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
In game two on Sunday, Potomac State picked up another win with a 3-2 victory over Herkimer College. This time it was Taylor Townsend in the circle earning the win, spreading 4 hits over 7 innings with 6 K's.
Simone Blanks went 2 of 3 at the plate against Herkimer and Anderson scored 2 runs.
Monday was the only one-game day of the 4-day stand, a game that would be PSC's only loss of the trip, dropping a 6-4 extra inning decision to Patrick Henry Community College.
Stocks and Madison Whetzel each surrendered 3 runs to the Patriots. Whetzel was tagged with the loss.
At the plate Alexis Bailey had a double and triple while Anderson and Skylar Ross each added two hits.
The Catamount bats got rolling on Tuesday with a 10-5 win over Hudson Valley Community College and an 11-1 win over Sussex County Community College.
Against Hudson Valley, Anderson again set the plate, going 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs. Ross, Bailey and Josie Deneen had 2 hits each including one extra base hit apiece.
Townsend picked up her fourth win of the season, pitching 7 innings allowing just 5 hits and striking out 9 Vikings.
In the win over Sussex CCC Stocks and Blanks each had a double and Bailey drove in 2 runs.
Burkhamer collected her first win of the season in the circle allowing just 2 hits and one earned run in four innings of work. Stocks pitched a one hit inning of relief to secure the win.
On the fourth and final day of the road trip the Catamounts collected two more wins; 16-1 in four innings over Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland and 9-1 over Hudson Valley Community College.
Anderson had a triple and 3 RBI and Stocks also delivered 3 RBI to pace the offensive attack.
On the mound Townsend surrendered 3 hits, 1 earned run and struck out 3 in three innings. Emma Turned came on in relief, allowing only one hit in the non-save scenario to close out the victory and the spring trip.
Potomac State improved to 10-2 and will play at home on Sunday against Union County College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
