Catamounts claw past Dragons

Catamounts claw past Dragons

Columbia, MD

The Dragons were unable to hold on to an early lead as the Catamounts claw their way to a 6-3 victory.

Howard hit a long range goal in the third minute of the game and 30 seconds later the Dragons doubled their lead as a foul in the Catamounts goal box gave Howard a penalty kick allowing the Dragons to have a 0-2 lead.

Grant Dadisman scored off an assist from Aidan Belcastro in the 29th minute and Will Lapid followed up in the 37th to tie the game 2-2 heading into halftime. Howard came out with a renewed energy to start the second half as the Dragons scored in the 52nd minute on a cross.

The Catamounts took advantage of opportune moments after that, scoring four goals in a four minute period to deflate the home crowd.  Edwin Gonzalez scored in the 65th AND 66th minutes with both unassisted.  Grant Dadisman scored in the 67th minute.  Jayson Gordon's goal in the 69th minute definitively locked in the 6-3 win for the Catamounts.

Levi Crayton played all 90 in the net for the Catamounts and recorded 4 saves. The other stats for the game showed evenly matched opponents but it was clear the Catamounts 2nd half goal scoring run made a significant difference.

The win improves the Catamounts to 3-3-2 as they prepare for their last home game of the year against Carroll Community College on Thursday, October 12th.
