KEYSER, W.Va. - The WVU Potomac State College Catamounts and the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals played to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of NJCAA Region 20 Division II men's soccer yesterday at Stayman field.

Except for a Cardinal goal in the 20th minute, the Catamounts executed Head Coach Ethan Patrick's game plan with precision throughout the first half. The lockdown Catamount defense frustrated the Catonsville attack. The half time score remained 1-0 in favor of the Cardinals.

The Potomac State defensive strategy continued into the second half until, with 5 minutes remaining, they left the haven of their defensive end attempting to tie the game.  The pace of the game opened quickly, and the Cardinals were able to earn a penalty kick off a quick counterattack with three minutes remaining.

At this pivotal moment, Potomac State goalkeeper Timmy Bailey came up with a huge save.

Bailey's save inspired his teammates. The reinvigorated Catamounts surged forward, pressured Catonsville into a foul in the penalty area, and earned a penalty kick of their own. Bryan Acosta calmly planted the penalty shot into the Catonsville goal with 24 seconds remaining, knotting the score and forcing overtime.

The Catamounts and Cardinals battled through two scoreless overtime periods, exiting the field with a 1-1 tie.

Bailey ended the game with 13 saves for the Catamounts.

Potomac State College moves to 2-4-1 on the season. They host Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday, September 30th at 7 p.m.
