December 7, 2024 – Lough Gym, Keyser, WV
The WVU Potomac State College Catamounts came up short against Chesapeake College, falling 86-76 in a spirited home matchup on December 7. Despite a strong second-half surge, the Catamounts couldn't overcome Chesapeake's balanced scoring and free-throw shooting.
First Half
The Catamounts found themselves in a hole early, trailing 45-33 at halftime. WVU Potomac State's Damian Thompson tried to keep things close, scoring 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting in the first half. However, the Catamounts struggled with their three-point shooting, going just 3-of-14 before the break.
Second Half
In the second half, the Catamounts showed resilience, outscoring Chesapeake 43-41, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. Daniel Charlot delivered a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Camren Wilkes chipped in with 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Bench contributions from Cayden Faucett (9 points) and Peter Quaye (5 points, 9 rebounds) provided a spark, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.
Chesapeake shot 82.6% from the free-throw line (19-of-23) and capitalized on 11 WVU turnovers.
