Panthers Defeat Catamounts 90-86

 

Keyser, W.Va - The Potomac State Catamounts (6-8) hosted the Baltimore City Community College Panthers on Saturday January 13th at Lough Gymnasium.

In the first half, freshman guard Damian Thompson opened up the scoring by hitting from deep as both teams struggled to score early. Three minutes passed before the Panthers found their opening score from Marquise Delahaye with a score of 3-2 five minutes into the contest. They would eventually find their scoring in a strong defensive half as the Catamounts held the 36-24 advantage at the break.

The second half was the complete opposite. Daniel Charlot opened up the scoring with a layup and a pair of free throws. The Panthers also exchanged baskets by Antonio Fliggins and Sam Dewitt-Johnson with Potomac State holding their 12-point lead. Catamounts would hold their largest lead of 15 points at 45-30. BCCC would limit the Catamount offense and find their scoring and cut their deficit to single digits 65-56 with 9:54 left in the contest. The Panthers would continue to cut into their deficit and would take their first lead 77-76 with 3:02 to go. A three-point shot exchange between PSC's Rodney Vilsaint, BCCC's Blake Neverdon, and PSC's Camren Wilkes would change the lead three times in 30 seconds. A pair of free-throws from Dewitt-Johnson, followed by a layup would allow the Panthers to take the lead. Fliggins would ice the game at the foul line going 6/6 to close out the game and take the win 90-86. The Catamounts were outscored 66-50 in the 2nd half.

Marquise Delahaye led both teams with 33 points and 12 rebounds. Antonio Fliggins added 23 points and Sam Dewitt-Johnson added 20 points.

Daniel Charlot recorded the double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Damian Thompson had a season-high 17 points alongside Rodney Vilsaint with 23 points, also a career-high. Camren Wilkes added 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
