Juliyen Johnson had a game-high 34 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a 90-89 loss to visiting Butler County Community College Tuesday evening at Lough Gym.

Richard Law scored 20 points, grabbed a team-high 11 boards and had 6 assists in the Catamounts loss. Simon Vellandurai added 15 points and 4 rebounds.

The game saw six ties and eight lead changes and had all the excitment and drama.

Potomac State went down early in the first half, but dug their way back and took a 50-46 lead into the half. Both teams came out ready to win the game in the second half, not allowing either to pull ahead, leading to an eventful finish.

The Catamounts saw themselves down 87-83 needing a stop with just under a minute remaining in the game. Potomac State forced a missed shot and Law grabbed the rebound. A foul and technical foul back-to-back put Law at line with two shots for the technical then in a 1and1 situation. He would make all four free throws, tying the game 87-87 with :52 seconds remaining. The Catamounts would then force another missed shot from the Pioneers and getting the ball back with :24 seconds left. Potomac State took all the time they needed and Johnson put the Catamounts up two with just :10 seconds remaining. The Pinoeers inbounded the ball, brought it up the court, and called a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, with just :02 seconds left, the Pioneers inbounded the ball from the sideline and shot a quick three pointer. The horn sounded as the shot was made, putting the Pioneers on top and beating the Catamounts 90-89.

Five players scored double digits for the Pioneers. Leading the way was Kevaughn Price with 26 points, 11 rebounds and Derrick Anderson with 18 points.

The Catamounts host Hagerstown Community College on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
