Potomac State Takes Care of Business Against Westmoreland

Youngwood, PA - The WVU Potomac State men's basketball team took care of business Saturday afternoon to capture their fourth victory of the season against Westmoreland County Community College, 91-78.

Multiple players shined in this one for Potomac State, with Malik Lacewell once again leading the way for the Catamounts by scoring 23 points. Thaddaeus Jordan would also reach 20 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Cavonte Duncan and Issac James were stat-sheet stuffers on the day for the Catamounts. Duncan ended the game with 15 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. James ended the game with 14 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Potomac State led for a majority of the first half and took a sufficient lead into halftime, 41-32. After coming out of the break and down the stretch, Westmoreland could never seem to make a run and close the gap. The key to victory in this one for Potomac State was their inside presence as the Catamounts wound up with a whopping 60 points in the paint!

Westmoreland County Community College was led by their main man, Jakir Hampton, who finished with 32 points and eight rebounds while shooting an absurd 8-for-12 from three point range. Tahiyr Vines also carried the load for the Wolfpack as he accounted for 20 points and seven rebounds.

Potomac State will be back in action after Thanksgiving break with a matchup at Frederick Community College on Thursday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m.
