KEYSER, W.Va. — Despite the defensive efforts of Isaac James, Garrett College's Kobey Tigney converted a layup as time expired to give the Lakers a 95-93 win in a key NJCAA Region 20 Division II matchup Monday night.

In a flurry of action in the waning moments, Mailk Lacewell hit a jumper for Potomac State with 32 seconds remaining to tie the score at 93-93. After a missed Garrett three-point attempt, Juliyen Johnson collected the rebound and pushed the attack. Laker Lamont Powell stepped in front of a Potomac State pass, countered the attack and found Tigney, who drove baseline for the buzzer-beater under heavy defensive pressure from James.

The game-winner nullified two Catamounts comeback efforts. Potomac State trailed by 16 points in the first half before clawing their way to a 46-45 halftime lead. In the second half, Garrett led by 15 points at the mid-point. PSC eliminated the lead to set up Tigney's heroics.

James led all scorers with 28 points, hitting 10-18 field goals and 8-10 free throws. Teammates Johnson and Cavonte Duncan each turned in a double-double. Johnson had 14 points and 11 rebounds while Duncan had 11 points and 10 boards.

Garrett's leading scorer was Jhaiden Wilson with 25 points on 7-12 shooting, 6-11 behind the arc, and 5-6 free throws. Wilson was joined in double figures by Tigney, 15 points; Tyler Rodeheaver, 15 points; Ezekiel Edwars, 14 points; and Darius Jones, 10 points.

Potomac State falls to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in Region 20 Division II. They return to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Pittsburgh against the Community College of Allegheny County.

Garrett improves to 9-6 overall and 2-4 in Region 20 Division II.
