Evan Moreland Captures PlayVS Madden Championship

Evan Moreland Captures PlayVS Madden Championship

Ethan Patrick - Potomac State College

Another dominant performance from WVU Potomac State's Esports team adds yet another championship to the Catamount trophy case.

Thursday evening Potomac State's Evan Moreland competed in a Best-of-5 PlayVS Madden series against Bryant & Stratton's Dominique King (KingXKutta) for the honor of PlayVS Madden Champion.

After going 6-2 in the 29 player tournament, Moreland advanced to the playoffs as the number 2 seed and played his way to the championship game by defeating his three opponents to ultimately face King, the number 8 seed, in the final.

When asked about the championship series, Moreland stated a key turning point was when Bryant & Stratton's King "[tied] the game up in Game 1 with only 2 minutes left in the game, and then me driving down the field and kicking the game winning field goal.  Getting game 1 of a series is always huge and I felt like I got him to show his entire scheme, so it helped me gameplan for him for the next games…"

The Catamount was able to take down his opponent by winning the best-of-5 series with a comfortable 3-0 series record, and a very dominant win in the final game by a score of 31-0.

Moreland says "I am very grateful to be able to play for Potomac State.  I have gotten a lot of support here and I am very thankful for that.  I can't wait to get back out there and bring more championships to Potomac State next semester."

This championship marks the 5th Madden Championship that the Catamounts Esports Program has won in just a short 3 years.
