The WVU Potomac State Men's Soccer team helped to set up classrooms at Frankfort Elementary School on Tuesday, August 13th in between their preseason training sessions. Athletic Director Mandi Larkin, Head Coach Timothy Bailey, and Assistant Coach Jacob Ritchie along with 15 of the Catamounts helped the Frankfort Elementary School Rockets get settled into their new home. The team moved furniture, supplies, and books into classrooms so the Frankfort teachers and staff can prepare for the start of their academic year.
Director of Athletics Mandi Larkin stated, "this service project is the first of the year for Catamount Athletics with many more scheduled over the next week and throughout the academic year. Service is a core value of West Virginia University, and the Catamounts of Potomac State certainly strive to live their lives through service to others, and especially within Mineral County." Each year the Catamounts serve the local area with countless projects for nonprofit organizations. "Our hope is that by serving our community, they will also in turn support our College and student-athletes. We hope to see some Rockets on the sidelines cheering on the Catamounts this season," stated Larkin.
The men's and women's cross country team will be the next team set to serve, assisting with the 5k on Saturday, August 17th that is being held as a part of the Keyser 150th anniversary celebration.
