Catamounts battle in large field of talent

September 10, 2022

In a large field made up of 15 institutions, the Catamounts fought to improve in week two of competition.  The women finished 10th with 106 total runners in the race.  Alexandrea Kile led the Catamounts, placing 31st with a chip time of 27:09.99.  Right behind her was Arrisyn Amtower at 32nd place and 27:14:57.  Minka Amtower (45th), Alexa VanMeter (99th), and Sarah Warton (105th), added points for WVU Potomac State.

Coach Biser said "I feel the women had another great performance.  They really gave a strong effort against several nationally ranked teams and past national individual qualifiers."

On the men's side the Catamounts worked hard against a tight pack of elite runners from several NCAA schools.  With 128 runners in the field, it wasn't easy to make moves in a highly competitive group.  Wyatt Gray was the top Catamount finisher placing 121st with 34:44.56 followed by Isaiah Wharton (126th) and Carl Njoroge (128th).

"The men gave it their all once agian and I feel we still need to adjust to the longer collegiate distance of 8k vs the 5k distance they ran in high school" said Biser.  "They are all fighters and I feel once we can make that adjustment we will really be competing well in Region 20 NJCAA."

The Catamounts hit the road to Bridgewater on September 17th for their next test.
