After two seasons as the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach, Scottie Samples moved into the Head Coach position of the WVU Potomac State College Women’s Lacrosse program in 2019.  Scottie brings a wealth of experience from a variety of sports, an Education degree and work with young people in a variety of settings.

Sample’s focus is ensuring that the student athletes are successful academically, reach graduation and continue their playing careers at four-year collegiate programs.  Scottie develops strong relationships with his players and believes in treating the team like a family.

Professionally, Scottie’s time in the U.S. Army established a sense of discipline that he imparts in his student athletes.  His degree in Secondary Education from Frostburg State University provides him with the background to teach athletes skills and support their individual academic endeavors.   His work in the field of Recreation gives him a wide variety of techniques to draw upon as he engages the team in making connections with each other and their sport.

Personally, Scottie has been an athlete in various team sports throughout his whole life and understands both the commitment and the reward of participation in a team sport.  He has developed a passion for Lacrosse that he is excited to share with his players.

Scottie is a resident of Keyser with his fiancé Meg. He has two children; son Spencer and daughter Avery.
