Two Pitchers Work Together As Potomac State College Defeats Northern Virginia Community College In Shut-Out

Potomac State College defeated Northern Virginia Community College 21-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Halei Johnson induced a groundout from Rheana Gray to finish off the game.

Josie Deneen led Potomac State College to victory by driving in six runs. She went 2-for-4 at the plate. Deneen drove in runs on a grand slam inthe second and a home run in the third. 

Potomac State College notched 11 runs in the fourth inning. Lexi TrickettKatlyn Rasnake, Shyann FarrisAutumn FogleTaylor Townsend,and Trickett each had RBIs in the frame. 

One bright spot for Northern Virginia Community College was a single by Elizabeth Corcoran in the first inning.

Farris got the win for Potomac State CollegeShe went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking zero.Johnson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Gray took the loss for Northern Virginia Community College. She went one and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on five hits.

Potomac State College smacked three home runs on the day. Deneen went yard in the second and third innings. Camryn Blacka went for the long ball in the fourth inning. 

Potomac State College scattered 17 hits in the game. Farris, FogleTrickett, Deneen, Allison Leighty, and Blacka each had multiple hits forPotomac State CollegeBlacka, Leighty, DeneenTrickettFogle, and Farris all had two hits to lead Potomac State College. 

Corcoran led Northern Virginia Community College with two hits in two at bats.
