Potomac State succumbs to strong Bryant & Stratton finish

Virginia Beach, Va. – Potomac State and Bryant & Stratton exchanged leads several times during the first 38 minutes of their NJCAA basketball game Saturday afternoon on the Virginia Beach campus of B & S. In the final minutes, an offensive flurry from the Bobcats sealed the defeat of the Catamounts, 93-80.

Behind Sophomore Qualeke Bush's 19 first-half points, which included 5 three-pointers, the Catamounts held a 46-40 advantage after a seesaw first half.

In the second half the back and forth action resumed with eight lead changes until, with two minutes remaining and the score tied, Bryant & Stratton scored 9 unanswered points on back to back three-pointers followed by an and-1 layup. The Catamounts didn't answer the 9-0 run and the Bobcats converted free throws to close out the 93-80 win.

Bush finished with a game-high 30 points, including 8 three-pointers, to lead Potomac State. Teammate Noah Smith turned in a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Bryant and Stratton's Shawn Sanders came off the bench to lead five Bobcats in double-figures with 22 points.

Potomac State (3-2) visits Allegany College of Maryland Wednesday, Mar. 3 at 6:00 p.m.
