In a replayed battle of the backyard brawl we saw PA and WV teams competing on the course at the Westmoreland Wolfpack Invitational. At the gun the ladies were off, Chloe Kalp from PSU-Fayette was the leader followed behind by the WVU Potomac State trio of Arrisyn Amtower, Minka Amtower, and Alexandrea Kile. Kalp had a pretty substantial lead a mile and half into the 3.1 mile race leading the pack by 30 seconds. Coach Biser gave the gals the go ahead to split and try to run her down…and that they did. Arrisyn Amtower was able to run her down by the 2 ½ mark, and went on to win the race in 21:59. Kalp (22:29) was able hold off Minka Amtower (22:32) for second. WVU Potomac State had four runners in the top 10:
- 1st Arrisyn Amtower 21:59,
- 3rd Minka Amtower 22:32,
- 4th Alex Kile 22:39, and
- 10th Alexa VanMeter 26:33.
Other Catamount finisher included Sarah Wharton 30:13, and Audrey Sorton 31:33. The Catamounts went on to win the meet on the women's side, with 20 points followed in second by Pittsburgh-Greensburg at 35 points. This was the first ever Women's Cross Country Team victory and first ever individual women's victory for the WVU Potomac State College Cross Country program.
The Catamounts hit the trails in their next competition on September 9 at St. Vincent College.
