KEYSER, W.Va. — Taylor VanMeter finished with a doubledouble, but it wasn't enough as Potomac State was swept by Hagerstown on Tuesday.

The Hawks narrowly won the first set, 25-21, before taking the second, 25-17, and the match, 25-23. VanMeter finished with 15 digs and 10 kills to go along with five aces, while Chloe Puffinburger added 28 assists and six digs.

Lauren Whiteman tacked on 14 digs for the Catamounts, with Nicola Ganoe adding nine digs and five kills and Kylie McGuire seven kills. PSC is coming off the back of a 14- day COVID quarantine, having won last Friday coming out of the hiatus before dropping a pair in a trimatch on Saturday.

"We have had an exceptionally tough start to our season and the girls have shown a lot of resilience throughout it all," said Catamounts head coach Martha Ganoe. "Despite losing two of the three matches on the weekend we are happy to be back in the gym after coming off of a 14-day quarantine.

"With just one practice in, I felt the girls did a great job with the limited amount of playing time they've had. I saw some good things throughout the weekend. I'm looking forward to watching these girls come together as a team and hoping to see them peak by the time we are ready for playoffs."

The Catamounts defeated College of Southern Maryland, 3-1, on Friday, with set scores of 25-18, 19- 25, 25-15 and 26-24. VanMeter, Nicola Ganoe and Puffinburger both had double doubles.

VanMeter recorded 14 kills and 13 digs with three aces, Ganoe had 13 digs and 11 kills and Puffinburger finished with 41 assists and 12 digs.

PSC was swept by both Monroe and Montgomery in the Saturday trimatch.

Potomac State (6-6) travels to Montgomery this evening at 7 p.m.
