Catamounts Dethrone No. 12 Knights in 2-0 Victory

WVU Potomac State came away with a 2-0 shutout over CCBC Essex on August 29th.

Morgan Pyles got the scoring started for the Catamounts, scoring their first point in the 10th minute. Although a balanced attack from both teams, Alyssa Dunn would find the goal from a McKenzie Park assist during the 64th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Goal Keeper Hartley VanGilder recorded the shutout and had 7 saves in the contest. The Knights would outshoot the Catamounts 27-10 but only had 7 shots-on-goal despite playing with low numbers. Ashlin Fuentes led the Knights in shots with 11. Sarah Wharton led the Catamounts with 3 shots. Both Pyles and Dunn added two shots each.

The Catamounts improved to 1-1 with the win and will be back in action Thurdsay August 31 at home against Howard Community College.
