All-Region Division II Softball Teams Announced

The NJCAA Region 20 released its 2023 All-Region Division II Softball Teams. Seven Potomac State standouts were lauded for their efforts this season.

Three Catamounts led the way with first team selection.

Abby Peace recieved a first team selection with her performance in the circle this season. Peace finished her freshman campaign with 29 appearances, 2 saves, 22 complete games, and a 22-2 record. In a 152.2 innings pitched, she had 270 strikeouts with 12.38 strikouts per seven innings and a 1.33 ERA. She led the region in all pitching catagories and in NJCAA she finished 5th in ERA, 3rd in strikeouts, and tied for 8th in wins. At the plate, Peace had 18 homeruns, 60 RBIs, a .340 AVG and .745 SLG. 

Alexa Shoemaker recieved a first team selection. She finished her freshman season with 75 runs, 92 hits, and 78 RBIs. Shoemaker had 21 doubles and 22 homeruns with a .586 AVG and 1.140 SLG. Shoemaker led the region in AVG, RBI, and HR. In NJCAA, she finished 2nd in AVG, and tied 14th for both RBI and HR.

Alexis Bailey rounded out the first team selections for Potomac State. Bailey finished her third season with Catamounts with 61 runs, 76 hits and 78 RBIs. She had 14 doubles, 1 triple, and 22 homeruns. Bailey had a .543 AVG, .602 OBP, and 1.129 SLG. In NJCAA, Bailey finished 7th in AVG and tied 14th for both RBI and HR.

Grace Walsh recieved a second team selection for her performace. Walsh finished her sophomore campaign with 62 runs, 56 hits and 34 RBIs. She had 8 stolen bases. Walsh had 6 doubles, 6 triples, and 7 homeruns with a .448 AVG, .549 OBP, and .760 SLG. 

Simone Blanks also got a second team selection for her performace this season. Blanks had a .318 AVG, .451 OBP, and .495 SLG. She had 11 stolen bases, 38 runs, and 34 hits. Blanks had 7 doubles, 4 homeruns, and 24 RBIs earning her a second team nod. 

Rounding out the second team selections for the Catamounts is Ashley Joll. Joll finished her freshman year with 30 runs, 37 hits and 25 RBIs. She had 6 doubles, 1 homerun, and 9 stolen bases. Joll had a .359 AVG, .416 OBP, and .447 SLG. 

Jenna Burkhammer is the final Catamount with an all-region selection, recieving honorable mention. She finished with a .319 AVG and .389 SLG. In the circle, Burkhammer had 20 appearances with 19 starts, 1 save, and 5 complete games. She finished with a 15-2 record. In 90 innings pitched she strukout 53 with a 4.12 K/7 and a 2.10 ERA.
