Vales Nets Hat Trick as Potomac State Men’s Soccer Rolls Past Carroll, 8–0

Keyser, WV — The WVU Potomac State College Men's Soccer team delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday, shutting out Carroll Community College 8–0 at Stayman Field.

From the opening whistle, the Catamounts controlled possession and tempo, striking early and often. Jean Wicarl Vales led the offensive charge with a hat trick, scoring in the 5th, 13th, and 27th minutes. Vales showcased his finishing ability and chemistry with teammates, receiving assists from Denis-Alexandre TalbotMateo Miranda, and Harper Furioso.

The scoring didn't stop there. Starting center backs Jesse Moore and Jonas Balele each found the back of the net, with Moore converting a penalty in the 79th minute and Balele scoring off a set piece in the 19th. The Catamounts' depth and versatility were on full display, with eight goals from six different players.

Denis-Alexandre Talbot and Mateo Miranda each tallied multiple assists, while also contributing goals of their own. Talbot scored in the 32nd minute, and Miranda added a solo effort in the 60th. Matthieu Baudry opened the scoring in the 4th minute with an unassisted strike. Potomac State outshot Carroll 24–5 and earned 15 corner kicks to Carroll's one, underscoring their dominance in all phases of the game. Goalkeeper Justin Leclerc recorded two saves in the clean sheet victory.

With the win, the Catamounts improve to 4–1–0 overall. They'll look to carry this momentum into their next match on Tuesday, September 16th, when they travel to face CCBC Catonsville at 5:00 PM.
