Potomac State's season ends in Region 20 Tournament

KEYSER, W.V. — WVU Potomac State College's season came to an end in Friday's opening day of the NJCAA Region 20, Division II Tournament at Golden Park.

The Catamounts (22-21) fell in the opener 9-7 to Monroe (N.Y.) before ending the season with a 6-2 loss to Harford.

Against Monroe, Potomac State trailed 5-0 after five before scoring six runs in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead.

Reilly Bubb led-off the sixth with a solo home run, and reached on a fielder's choice later in the inning after the Catamounts batted around.

Ryan Conrad drove in a run with a base hit, Carson Boober picked up an RBI with a bases loaded walk, Jordan Canby added a sacrifice fly during the 6-run inning.

The Mustangs took the lead for good in the seventh, scoring two runs off Potomac State errors.

The Catamounts committed eight errors while combining for eight hits.

 

Against Harford, Potomac State trailed 4-0 in the sixth.

A Chris Harbert double in the seventh and an error in the ninth were the only Catamount runs.

Evan Jenkins allowed three earned runs off nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts as Potomac State's starter.

Monroe and Harford advanced to play in the Region 20 championship with Harford winning the Championship with a sweep over the Mustangs.

Harford now plays the Region 10 champion for the Eastern District title and a trip to the JUCO World Series.
