Late inning hits pace Potomac State past Charleston

Josh Hoffman's RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 3-all tie and led to Potomac State's 4-3 win over the University of Charleston Wednesday afternoon at Golden Park.

With the win, the Catamounts improve to 29-6 and play host to Monroe College on Thursday at 3pm.

Trailing 3-2 Dakota Miller led off the 8th inning with a walk.  While running on the pitch, Miller scored on Dylan Perry's pinch hit, opposite field double to tie the game.  After reaching on a fielder's choice Anthony Swenda scored on Hoffman's double to give PSC the lead.

Jack Hoeymans pitched out of a jam in the ninth stranding the tying run at third to pick up the win.  Hoeymans worked the final three innings and struck out three. 

Robert Kelley started and went six strong innings.  The freshman struck out six and allowed just one hit- a single in the sixth inning.

PSC took an early 2-0 lead on a two-run double from Preston Taylor in the fourth inning.

In that inning, Devon Neal led off with a walk, a fielder's choice from Miller retired Neal at second.  After a strikeout, Swenda drew another walk before Taylor's double in the left-center gap scored Miller and Swenda.
