Trevor Thomas heroics pushed Potomac State into extra innings and a bases loaded hit-by-pitch ended a furious comeback as the Catamounts roared back from a 9-1 deficit for a 11-10 win over Westmoreland County Community College Tuesday afternoon at Golden Park.

Thomas hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the last inning to tie the game at 10 all.  The two-out, two-strike home run scored Jack Hoeymans, who had walked and set the stage for an extra frame.

In the eighth, playing with NCAA extra-innings rules beginning with a runner at second base, Thomas came on to pitch for just his second appearance of the season.  Thomas struck out the first two hitters, and then after an infield error putting runners at first and third, Thomas got another punch out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, Dale Houser began the inning at second base. Graham Brown then reached on a bunt single moving Houser to third.  Brown then stole second and Caleb Taylor was walked intentionally.  Anthony Swenda worked the count to 1-1 before he was hit by a pitch to bring home the winning run.

Training 9-1 in the fifth inning, Potomac State closed the gap with seven runs in the inning.

Zack Whitacre led off the inning with a solo home run.  Houser then singled and Brown walked.  After a line out from Caleb Taylor, Swenda walked to load the bases.

Josh Hoffman then singled to score two runs to cut the lead to 9-4.

Pinch hitter Hoeymans walked and then another pinch hitter, Dakota Miller singled to score two more runs. After a fly out, Whitacre, in his second at bat of the inning doubled to score two more runs, making the score 9-8.

The Wolfpack's Caden Kastonis doubled in the sixth inning to increase the lead to 10-8.

Brown worked a scoreless seventh inning for PSC setting the stage for the bottom of the frame.

Whitacre finished with 5 hits.  Two singles, two doubles and his solo home run.

Potomac State won the opening game 9-1.

Avery Heiple was the story as the southpaw struck out 14 in five innings to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Houser had three doubles to lead Potomac State, and Caleb Taylor hit his 3rd home run of the season.

Potomac State improves to 13-2 after the sweep and will be home again on Saturday to host a pair of games with CCBC-Catonsville at 1pm.
