Schaeffer, Kelley pitch Potomac State to shutout sweep

Keyser, WV- A pair of strong pitching performances propelled Potomac State to a sweep over Scotland Prep Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.

Brandon Schaeffer and Robert Kelley each delivered a run-ruled complete game effort as the Catamounts won by scores of 10-0 and 20-0.

Schaeffer continued his stellar start to the 2021 season, by going six innings, striking out 13 and scattering five hits, improving his record to 3-0. 

In game two, Kelley was equally impressive in a five-inning effort, striking out eight and allowing a single hit.

Offensively, Potomac State was led by Caleb Taylor who drove in fours runs on the day with three hits and two sacrifice flies, as well as Zack Whitacre who had two hits in each game.

Dylan Perry also had a big day, as the freshman drove in six runs combined.

Potomac State has now won eleven games in a row to improve to 11-2.  Their homestand continues on Tuesday as they host Westmoreland County Community College for a twin bill at Golden Park that begins at 1:00 p.m.
