Baseball: Potomac State rallies late for walk-off win over Morris

Myrtle Beach, SC- Trailing 3-0 with just three outs to go Potomac State rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and an inning later scored the game winner to open their spring break with a 4-3 win.

Down 3-0 in the last inning Dale Houser and Austin Martin hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning.  An RBI groundout from Brandon Schaeffer scored Houser to put the Catamounts on the board.  After a line out, Pete Costigan reached on an infield error that scored Martin to cut the lead to 3-2.

Hayden Almond then provided the heroics with a two-out double that scored Costigan all the way from first base to tie the game. 

In the bottom of the eighth Cole Miller was hit with a pitch to open the frame.  Foster Conis came in to run for Miller and moved to second on an errant pick-off throw.  Houser and Martin walked to load the bases and two pitches later Conis came across to score the winning run on a wild pitch.

Tyler Bradford worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up his second win this week.  The freshman walked two and struck out four including the final batter for Morris with the bases loaded in the eighth.

Brett Whiteman started and allowed three runs, one earned in 5 1/3 innings of work striking out three.

Vincent DiNicola hit a solo home run for Morris in the sixth inning.

Almond finished with a single and double for PSC while Abe Stearns went 2-2.

Potomac State improves to 5-2 and will play CC of Morris again on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.  PSC will play a second game against Cumberland County College at 12:45 p.m.
