Baseball: Catamounts split a pair with Garrett College

Glenville, WV- Potomac State rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on in the seventh for a 6-5 win in the night-cap over Garrett College on Sunday.

With their bats silent for most of the day, the Catamounts took advantage of three Laker errors in the sixth to push four runs across.

Three PSC pitcher’s combined to hold Garrett to six hits.  Starter Brandon Schaeffer struck out eight.  Tyler Bradford pitched an inning and a third to pick up the win.

Nathan Kerr came on to get the final two outs of the game to pick up the save.

Juan Pinero hit a two-run home run for Garrett- his second of the day.

In game one, Garrett’s Reilly Rutgers outdueled Potomac State’s Colt Webb leading the Lakers to a 1-0 win.  Reilly went six innings, striking out seven and allowed just one hit to pick up his first win of the season.  Webb went seven innings striking out 12 and allowed just three hits.

Pinero’s solo home run in the top of the seventh proved to be the game winner. 

Potomac State threatened in the bottom of the seventh loading the bases with one out, but Garrett’s Michael Joyce struck out the final two hitters to end the game.
