Chavis and Spishock home runs key comeback win as PSC sweeps Charleston

Keyser, WV- A pair of home runs from Austin Chavis and Joel Spishock in the bottom of the sixth inning capped a come from behind win for Potomac State over the University of Charleston by a score of 16-15 in the opening game on Wednesday afternoon.

Trailing 13-8 in the bottom of the fifth, Potomac State scored four runs highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles from Spishock and Pete Costigan to cut the lead to 13-12.

The Golden Eagles extended the lead in the sixth to 15 12 on a two RBI double from Kyle Keenen.

In the bottom of the sixth, Austin Martin reached on an error to open the inning.  Hayden Almond then singled and both came in to score on the Chavis home run that tied the game at 15-all.

Spishock then drilled a home run to straight away centerfield to give the Catamounts the lead.  This was his second home run of the day.  He finished with a season high seven runs batted in.

Andrew Liller worked a scoreless final inning to pick up the save.  Abe Stearns earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief work.

Cole Miller was 3-3 and three other Catamounts had two hits apiece.

In game two Potomac State banged out 18 hits as they cruised to an 21-6 win.

Dale Houser led PSC with four hits while Martin, Houser and Costigan added three hits each.

Potomac State is now 18-5 and will continue its homestand at Golden Park this weekend with a doubleheader on both Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday PSC hosts Shenandoah for a pair and on Sunday they play host to Cecil College.
