PSC's rally stuns Mercyhurst N.E.

MCHENRY — Johnee’ Durham led three Catamounts in double figures and Potomac State used a 20-2 fourth-quarter run to propel itself past Mercyhurst North East 67-59 on Friday night, the opening night of the David K. Martin Classic at Garrett College.

Durham made eight shots from the floor, including a team-high three three-pointers, and was 1 for 2 from the free-throw line, where the Catamounts shot 8 of 15 as a team. Durham also had three steals.

 

Potomac State (5-1) trailed 46-40 entering the final quarter — the game was tied at 15 after the first quarter and 28-all at halftime — and was behind by eight with about 8:30 remaining before the 20-2 run to secure the win. Durham scored 15 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth, including all three of her three-pointers.

Haley Butcher and Tyesha Taylor added 16 points apiece for the Catamounts, with Butcher grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.

 

Alissa Johnson led Mercyhurst North East with 16 points and Ivoryana Faulkner added 11.

The Catamounts continue play in the David K. Martin Classic today, 6 p.m., against Penn State Fayette. Mercyhurst North East plays Garrett at noon.
